As a family photographer, I am always looking for ideal portrait locations in and around Howard County, Maryland. Historic Savage Mill , in Howard County, is a lovely and serene area that offers plenty of unique opportunities to capture portraits. From the scenic paths to the historic bridge and mill, Savage Mill is an ideal location for family portrait sessions.

Christine’s Story

I met Christine and her family on a cloudy morning for her “Free to- Be Tween” portrait session. We began our shoot at Savage Mill’s historic bridge. The bridge is a great place to photograph because it has interesting lines and architecture. We were able to capture both standing and sitting poses while taking advantage of the charming features of the bridge.

Christine looked beautiful in her first outfit, which was perfect for the shoot. She was relaxed and confident, and she had a great time posing for the camera. Her family was also very supportive and cheered and laughed with Christine while we worked.

The Lovely Locations of the Savage Mill

We then moved on to the Savage Mill trails. As a family photographer in Maryland, I knew the change of scenery would add interest to Christine’s tween session. Therefore, we weaved our way down paths and found interesting areas that included spring-blooming flowers and downed trees. Christine chose a flowing dress and traditional family scarf to stand out among the lush green trees. It was also the perfect place for Christine to get out her cello!

We finished the photoshoot with Christine by going to the historic, old mill. The stairs, stone, and brick of the mill buildings became excellent backgrounds for this feisty tween! The urban feel of the mill gave the portraits a more edgy and modern look. Christine was a natural in front of the camera and she really brought the photos to life.

Christine and her family were thrilled with her final images. We had a lovely session at Historic Savage Mill in Howard County. She is a beautiful young woman, and she will always have beautiful photos to remember her tween years. I am looking forward to doing more family sessions at the beautiful Historic Savage Mill, in Howard County, Maryland.
